Welcome to the playlist of the week! This is a playlist of 5-10 songs that a SAAS students are currently jamming to. Each issue, a new student’s playlist will be featured. If you would like to be featured, email me, Molly Schwartz (email@example.com), and we’ll talk. Otherwise, be prepared, because I’m going to be choosing a new student at random every week. No matter what type of music you’re listening to, we want to hear all about it. This week, you’ll get to hear about my top 10 songs of right now. *Warning: Some songs may include explicit lyrics. Listen at your own risk.
1. “Nightmare” - Avenged Sevenfold
Awesome. Nuff said. In all seriousness, A7X is my favorite band, and this is one of my favorite tunes by them. The drum beat is epic, and the guitars make me rock out. M Shadows’ vocals mix with the instruments perfectly.
2. “Good Girls, Bad Guys” - Falling in Reverse
My second favorite band. This song always gets stuck in my head. I don’t know if it’s Ronnie Radke’s voice, or the awesome guitar solo by Jackie Vincent, but this song always has me singing along.
3. “Good Girl” - Carrie Underwood
Last year, I quoted the lyrics of this song in an essay and got an A on it. I’m convinced that it was no coincidence. This song has been one of my favorites for a while. The lyrics are super easy to sing along with and the tone Underwood takes while singing gets me into the song.
4. “Call Me Maybe” - Carly Rae Jepson
“Call Me Maybe” has to be the catchiest song of the year. It’s a great song to sing along with while driving, because I know all the words. I love annoying all of my friends by breaking out into this song during lunch. Thank you Carly Rae Jepson!
5. “Almost” - Bowling for Soup
I heard this song on Pandora for the first time in a while, and it’s been on my playlist ever since. I love Bowling for Soup, and this is one of my favorites by them because of the powerful beat. I love the way the vocals and instruments come together to make an amazing creation.
6. “Dancing by Myself” - Generation X
Another hit from Pandora. What can I say? I love dancing—especially by myself. This song is perfect for crazy dancing in my room before school, which is part of the reason I love it so much.
7. “As Long as You Love Me” - Justin Bieber
No hate! I also love the Biebs. I know that my musical taste is all over the place. This is my favorite song by JB. The rap doesn’t make sense, but I think Justin’s singing shows how his musical style is growing as he gets older.
8. “So Far Away” - Avenged Sevenfold
Even though this song will always and forever now remind me of my late cousin, it’s still one of my very favorite songs. It’s not so much a hard metal song, but one of Avenged Sevenfold’s softer and more heartfelt songs.
9. “Therapy” - All Time Low
I love All Time Low so much, and this song has always connected with me. It’s one of those songs that you have to hear and there’s either a spark or not. The emotion in Alex Gaskarth’s voice makes the song that much better.
10. “Save Me” - Machine Gun Kelly
If you’re a fan of rap, this song might be more suited to your taste. It’s a rap song with the guitarist of Avenged Sevenfold playing in the back, and the singer of Avenged Sevenfold doing some vocals toward the end. Rap with a twist. I like it because it’s different, and really great.
